The Water Brothers Dive In to Season Three of their Eco-Adventure Series!

Alex and Tyler Mifflin have their gear packed and passports ready for another series of adventures as they embark on filming season three of their award-winning eco-adventure television program, The Water Brothers for TVOntario (TVO).

The Brothers, who share filmmaking and co-hosting responsibilities, will be producing seven new half-hour episodes for the series. They continue to explore the world, uncovering the most important water stories of our time; what are the problems and what are the solutions to help us better protect our most precious resource?

Alex and Tyler look at water issues from both a national and international perspective and will travel to seventeen cities and eight countries this season, including Jordan, Palestine, Israel and Scotland. Over the course of the three seasons, they will have travelled to twenty-two countries and interviewed the world’s leading marine and freshwater scientists in some of the most amazing places on earth.

This season, the Brothers look at the issues of water scarcity in the Middle East, overfishing and sustainable seafood along the East Coast of Canada, marine ecosystems in Costa Rica, ocean acidification and water in space – working with NASA and interviewing Chris Hadfield, former Commander of the International Space Station.

The Brothers may look at serious issues that affect us all, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have fun along the way! They will drink their own recycled urine to show how water is recycled on the International Space Station and surf along the coast of Scotland to experience the power of waves and tides and show how they are being used for electrical energy generation. In Costa Rica, they dive in and tag large sea turtles and sharks and try to avoid angry poachers while visiting a protected beach where sea turtles lay their eggs.

Beyond the television broadcast, The Water Brothers are developing interactive media that will allow audiences to “dive deeper” into the stories, issues and factual content that is being presented in season three. Additional information about this will be announced in late spring 2014.

Season Three of The Water Brothers will be broadcast on TVO in 2015.
