SK Films is pleased to announce that Dr. Karen Oberhauser, one of the key Scientific Advisors for Flight of the Butterflies in 3D has been honoured as a Champion of Change: Citizen Science from the White House.
According to the official website, Dr. Oberhauser is one of only a dozen individuals who are being honoured in this category for their “dedication to increasing public engagement in science and science literacy.”
Dr. Oberhauser, a professor at the University of Minnesota and leader of Monarchs in the Classroom, is one of our distinguished advisors who, along with the National Science Foundation and the Maryland Science Center spent years collaborating on the Flight of the Butterflies Educational Outreach program.
“Karen has been a critical member of the team, ensuring accuracy and clarity, from the moment she first guided us up the mountain into the midst of a glorious colony of monarchs in Mexico,” said Executive Producer Jonathan Barker. “We are thrilled that President Obama has given Karen this well-deserved honour.”
