Shailene Woodley (Paradise, Divergent) will narrate Ocean Dreams, an IMAX and Giant Screen documentary highlighting the importance of the world’s oceans from SK Films and Deep Sea Productions.
“Our oceans do so much for us from providing more oxygen to breathe and food to eat. I am encouraged that this beautiful and inspiring film will be seen by millions in museums and science centers around the world, increasing our understanding of the ocean and why it is so important to protect.” Woodley said.
The documentary captures the beauty and resilience of the oceans of the planet, from the deep fjords of Norway where orcas teach their young to hunt, to Raja Ampat in Indonesia, home to the richest biodiversity on Earth and where a groundbreaking project is saving endangered sharks.
Directed by Johan Candert, Ocean Dreams features underwater cinematography that fully immerses audiences in the ocean world. The release is supported by a comprehensive educational and marketing outreach campaign in partnership with UNESCO IOC and Voice of the Ocean Foundation, equipping theaters with tools to engage audiences of all ages and foster a deeper connection to ocean science and conservation.
“The script is written from an underwater perspective and to me, it was very important that the narrator was actually feeling what I wanted to say,” said director Johan Candert Early in the process, Shailene and I started talking about her experience while diving at Raja Ampat. It was clear that she was very connected and committed to this subject and shares an authentic love for the ocean which translates through her exquisite narration,” Candert said.
The film will open in select IMAX and Giant Screen theaters June 8, World Ocean Day. The trailer is now available to watch.
