Journey to Mecca: In the Footsteps of Ibn Battuta

Journey to Mecca: In the Footsteps of Ibn Battuta is the extraordinary adventure story of a young scholar named Ibn Battuta and his epic and perilous journey in 1325 from Morocco to Mecca to perform the Hajj – one of the longest running and most spectacular gatherings of people on earth. We witness the Hajj in the 14th century and by over three million people today. Through unprecedented access, audiences will enter the Grand Mosque of Mecca itself.

Ibn Battuta did not return home for almost 30 years. He visited 44 countries and journeyed three times further then Marco Polo, becoming one of the greatest travelers in history. The International Astronomical Union named a crater on the moon in his honor.
