SK Films

SK Films is a Toronto based film and television company and an international leader in the worldwide Giant Screen/IMAX® film industry. The company develops, produces and distributes 3D and 2D films for IMAX and other Giant Screen theatres spanning 55 countries. The company’s product line-up includes films for both prestigious institutional and commercial theatres and for exploitation in other media including television broadcast.

SK was founded in 1997 in partnership with Robert Kerr, a co-founder and the retired CEO of Imax Corporation. The company is led by Jonathan Barker, one of the most experienced and accomplished film executives in the worldwide Giant Screen industry and a leader in 3D production. Jonathan is currently in production on his 5th 3D film, Flight of the Butterflies. His productions have been acclaimed and viewed by millions of audience members around the world. In addition, SK is co-led by Wendy MacKeigan, who has over 20 years of senior management experience in the film and television industry.

SK is an award-winning producer and distributor, including the Giant Screen industry association for “Best Film” and “Best Marketing by a Distributor”. The company works with other industry-leading players to bring quality films to the market; current partnerships and relationships include those with the, Smithsonian Institution and the US National Science Foundation.

SK’s most recent film, Journey To Mecca: In the Footsteps of Ibn Battuta was the winner of the “Most Popular Film” award at the annual Giant Screen film festival in Paris. SK’s multiple award-winning film, Bugs! is one of the most successful educational IMAX films in recent years. Sponsored by Terminix, Bugs! is considered to have one of the most successful marketing programs in the industry.
